Launched in St James's Palace in 2000 by HRH The Prince of Wales and Stephen Fry, the BBC Radio 4 Food & Farming Awards celebrate ‘the people who keep our food system in good heart in farming, producing, campaigning and cooking. The people who know food isn't just pleasure with nutrients but also health, a vibrant economy, a stronger social fabric.’ As part of The Food Programme, listeners were asked to nominate what they reckon to be the most exciting figures in Food and Farming – Best Local Food Retailer, Best Food Market, Best Takeaway, Farmer of the Year, Best Food Producer, Best Dinner Lady or Man, The Derek Cooper Award, Best Retail Initiative and BBC Food Personality of the Year. |
As finalists in the Best Takeaway category, Thali Café Owner Sid Sharma drove judges around Bristol to see all four Thalis, as staff were interviewed with regard to what Thali meant to them. Our tiffins are an eco-friendly alternative to your usual takeaway, enough for two to share, and they keep your food hot until you get home. Joining our Tiffin Club entitles members to a free fill-up on your first visit with offers throughout the year. Innovative and practical, whilst full of healthy and nutritious food grown at a farm just 11 miles out of Bristol, surely they're a winner! The BBC Radio 4 Food & Farming Awards take place on Wednesday, November 25 in London. |
