What's a Thali? The word ‘Thali’ simply refers to the special stainless steel plate that the meal is served on. Millions of Indians eat Thali’s every lunch and dinnertime; it’s a traditional well-balanced meal that has kept a country healthy and nourished for centuries. The meal consists of a protein dish usually in the form of panner (Indian cheese) or fish, wild and sustainable of course, a lentil dish such as samber or dahl, a seasonal vegetable accompaniment served with rice and salad. The individual recipes will vary to the according region and the spices woven into the food are chosen for their nourishment as much as for taste.

Served Fast Cooked SlowlyThe beauty of serving Thali’s is that we can concentrate on producing a few dishes well; we use the best possible ingredients, which are fresh and free from GM foods, additives or preservatives. The fish in our Goan fish curry comes from sustainable, managed wild caught stock. The other great advantage is the speed of service; you can be in and out of the café with a drink within 35 minutes flat. (Don’t blame us for the indigestion!) |
